Timothy E. Goodger

Timothy E. Goodger of Federalsburg passed away at his home on Saturday, September 15, 2012. He was 66.

He was born in Patchogue, NY on March 9, 1946 the son of Genevieve Rocco Goodger of Federalsburg and the late Ernest Arthur Goodger. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doreen Rene Goodger.

He graduated with his masters degree from Humboldt State University in California. He retired as a marine biologist for National Marine Fishery Service in Oxford, MD. He was a true advocate for wildlife and the environment. He was a loving father and grandfather and a friend to many.

Besides his mother, he is survived by five children, Johanna V. Noble and her companion, John Paredes of Seaford, Michelle D. Kolb of Toddville, Brandon L. Kolb and his wife, Alfie of St. Petersburg, FL, Timothy E. Goodger, II and his wife, Heather of Federalsburg, and Logan J. Goodger and her companion Mickey Delano of Federalsburg, fourteen grandchildren, Kimberlee Noble, Michael Noble, Ashley Kolb, Jason Moore, Jessica Moore, Tarren Green, Tori Kolb, Kyla Kolb, Madolyne Goodger, Timothy Goodger, III, Kaitlyn Mansfield, Blaire Mansfield, Joseph Mansfield, and Chase Delano, and two great-grandchildren, James Kolb and Joslyn Molina.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at 7 p.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg with Rev. Denzil Cheek officiating. Ralph Gordon Green

Ralph Gordon Green of Denton, formally of Federalsburg, passed away on Monday, September 17, 2012 at Envoy of Denton. He was 90.

He was born on May 27, 1922 in Watertown, NY, son of the late Raymond Gordon Green and Rose Ann Green.

Ralph enlisted in the United States Army in 1942 and was honorably discharged in 1946. After his war service, he married the former Dorothy Towers Green and together made their home on the Eastern Shore. His wife preceded him in death on August 10, 2005. Ralph enjoyed the outdoors of the area and was an avid fisherman, hunter and also liked to go crabbing. He was a member of the Hurlock American Legion Post #243.

He is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann Barnhouse and her companion, William Hammett of Secretary, a granddaughter, Dorothy Marie Barnhouse of Salisbury, two nieces, Katie Sard of Hurlock, and Edna Mae Bradley of Cambridge, and one nephew, Brian Blades of Madison. He was preceded in death by four siblings; Edna Otis, June Smith, Laura Bradley and Warren Green and one nephew, Ronnie “Beaver” Bland.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at 11:00a.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home, P.A. in Federalsburg. Interment will follow at the Eastern Shore Veteran’s Cemetery in Beulah. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.

Allen M. Penrod

Allen M. Penrod of Seaford died at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital on Thursday, September 20, 2012. He was 76. He was born in Elizabeth, NJ on December 4, 1935 the son of the late Allen M. Penrod and Anne Penrod Whitely.

Allen grew up in Federalsburg, Maryland and lived in Seaford all of his adult life. He graduated from Fork Union Military Academy in Virginia and later served in the U. S. Air Force. He was scouted by and played professional baseball for the Brooklyn Dodgers Minor League Team. He later received his Engineering Degree from the University of Maryland.

He was President of Maryland Plastics, Inc. in Federalsburg, MD and their sister company, Harford Systems in Aberdeen, MD. He was an avid airplane pilot and loved boats, cars and motorcycles. When Allen neared retirement he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and embarked on his new career, serving God. He served as the President of the Board of Directors of the Delmarva Teen Challenge. He used his love of computers, photography, and all things technical to generously share his knowledge and resources with others.

He is survived by his wife, Kris Ellingsen Penrod and children, Michael Allen Penrod, Daniel A. Penrod and his wife Jamie of Seaford and Jami Allen and her husband Chad of Bridgeville, DE and grandchildren, Cody Penrod, Madison Wells, Haley Wells, Karli Penrod, Emily Allen and Kelsey Allen, a sister, Marilyn Penrod of Chapel Hill, NC.

Memorial Services for him will be held at 4:00 p.m. at Crossroads Community Church near Georgetown, DE on Sunday, September 23, 2012 with Pastor Joe LeCates, Pastor Tim Banks, Pastor Bob Carey and Pastor Oren Perdue officiating.

The family requests that contributions be made in his memory to either Bethel Worship Center Building Fund, P. O. Box 132 Seaford, De 19973, or Delmarva Teen Challenge, P. O. Box 1271 Seaford, DE 19973.

Lisa Willis Stanton of Federalsburg passed away on Monday, September 24, 2012 at her home. She was 38.

She was born on October 1, 1973 in Milford, DE, daughter of Charles E. Willis and Frances Blann Willis of Cordova, Maryland.

Lisa was a homemaker. She loved her family and also enjoyed the Chesapeake Classic Car Club, her Koi pond, her flower garden, and was a baseball mom for the Denton Little League.

She is survived by her husband, Billy Stanton of Federalsburg her parents, Charles and Frances Willis of Cordova, six children, Cassandra Lynn Willis of Cordova, PFC Ryan Michael Pinder of Germany, Leeann Michelle Pinder of Federalsburg, Alexandra Nicole Pinder of Federalsburg, Stacey Yvonne Stanton of Alexandria, VA, and MSGT John W. Stanton, Jr. of New York, four grandchildren, Nathan Matthew Stanton, Leni Stanton Parker, Jackie Renee Stanton, and John Lawrence Stanton, two sisters, April Rene¬¬e’ Willis of Federalsburg and Crystal Ann Sipes of Chester and a host of nieces and nephews.

Kenneth Ray Stewart, Sr. of East New Market died at Coastal Hospice in Salisbury, MD on Tuesday October 2, 2012. He was 57.

He was born in Easton, MD the son of the late Jackson Andrew Stewart and Erma Blades Davis.

He had worked as a carpenter doing home construction. He was a member of Fresh Start in Easton.

He is survived by his son, Kenneth Ray Stewart, Jr. and his wife Amber of East New Market, MD, a daughter, Kendle Stewart of Tilghman, MD, 3 grandchildren, Cody Stewart, Meghan Stewart and William Lloyd, four brothers, Michael Stewart of Bel Air, MD, Jerry Stewart and his wife Kim of Denton, MD, Mark Donaldson and his wife Ruth of Cambridge, MD, Jeffrey Donaldson and his wife Cathy of E. New Market, MD and a sister, Debra Donaldson of E. New Market and many nieces and nephews.

William “Jack” Patrick of Federalsburg died at Envoy Nursing Home in Denton, MD on October 3, 2012. He was 73,

He was born on February 19, 1939 in Chatham Hill, VA the son of the late Henry J. Patrick and Lillian Clear Patrick. His wife Carolyn Embert Patrick preceded him in death.

He was an over the road trucker who owned and operator his own truck for many years.

He is survived by 4 children, Lisa Gannon, Amy Patrick, Kelly Patrick and B. J. Patrick, several grandchildren, a sister, Brenda Hudson and her husband George of Federalsburg and two brothers, Donnie Patrick and his wife Barbara of Federalsburg and Wesley Patrick of Chilhowie, Virginia and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Johnny Patrick, Doug Patrick and Ronald Patrick.

Funeral services for him will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at Framptom Funeral Home, P. A. in Federalsburg with Rev. Denzil Cheek officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 to 12:00.

William Palmer Bennett of Federalsburg died at Compassionate Care in Richmond, KY on Friday, October 5, 2012. He was 89.

He was born on March 1, 1923 in Salisbury, MD the son of the late Raymond Bennett and Lelia Shockley Bennett. His wife, Betty Lenora Carroll preceded him in death.

He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army Signal Corp. He worked as a carpenter and millwright all of his life. He attended Union United Methodist Church in Federalsburg.

He was a Charter Life Member and former commander of Federalsburg VFW Post 5246, was a member of the Federalsburg Volunteer Fire Company and was a member of Carpenters and Millwrights Union Local 1906.

He is survived by a son, William R. Bennett and his wife Deb, a granddaughter, Beth Augustine and her husband Michael, Steven Carroll Bennett and his wife Linda; their granddaughter, Lisa Bennett, nephews, Carl Bennett, Greg Bennett and Michael Bennett and two nieces, Patti Bennett and Tana Bennett.

Funeral services for him will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Framptom Funeral Home, P. A. in Federalsburg. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 to 12:00. Interment with military honors will be held at the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery near Hurlock, MD.

Edward Thomas Northam Sr.

Edward Thomas Northam, Sr. of Hurlock died on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Mallard Bay Nursing Home in Cambridge, MD. He was 64.

He was born on March 20, 1948 in Easton, MD the son of the late Willie Preston Northam and Iona Belle Ford Northam.

He was a graduate in 1967 of Colonel Richardson High School.

He served his country as a member of the United States Marines serving in Viet Nam in Heavy Vehicle Operations where he received the Viet Nam Service Medal with one star, the Republic of Viet Nam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Navy Unit Citation, Letter of Appreciation for Meritorious MAST, Certificate of Achievement and Good Conduct Medal with two stars. He later served another enlistment of over 7 years. He attained the rank of Sergeant.

He was an over the road truck driver for most of his life hauling many different kinds of loads. He was a member of American Legion Post 243 in Hurlock and Federalsburg Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4246.

He is survived by a son, Edward Thomas Northam, Jr. and his wife, Missy of Mardella Springs, MD, a daughter, Bonnie-Anne Johnson and her husband, David of Hurlock, six grandchildren, Sara Northam, Joshua Foster, Mitchell Northam, Natalie Todd, Nicholas Todd and Caroline Johnson, a brother, Preston Northam and his wife, Vinh, two sisters, Eleanor Phippin of Delmar, DE and Faye Duck and her husband, Charlie of Salisbury, MD and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services for him will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church in Hurlock with Pastor David Talley officiating. There will be an American Legion service at 12:55. Interment with military honors will be held at the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M.

Elizabeth Louise Hopkins Dennard of Cambridge and formally of East New Market, passed away on October 4, 2012 at Chesapeake Woods in Cambridge, Maryland. She was 94.

She was born on March 3, 1918 in Hurlock, Maryland, daughter of the late Winnie Hopkins and Daisy Mae Demby Hopkins.

She graduated from Frederick Douglas Sin Clair School in Cambridge. She married the late Louis Roxie Dennard on June 14, 1943. She attended Hurlock United Methodist Church for many years and later attended Mt. Zion United Methodist Church now known as Faith Community Church in East New Market. She worked for many years at Coldwater Seafood in Cambridge. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time together. She also enjoyed sewing, and her beloved dog, stuff.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Dennard-Turner of East New Market, MD, five grandchildren, Lysander Dennard Troy Henneghen, Delfred Dennard, Kristal Dennard and Ashley Dennard, three great grandchildren, Jovawn Dennard, Ra’Kwron Henneghen and Imani Dennard, two special step grandchildren, Willie Turner and Cedric Turner, a niece, Millie Lake, two daughters-in-law, Hattie Dennard and Diane Dennard, and two great nephews, Benito Lake and Edward James. She was preceded in death by three children, Louis Dennard, Jr., Winnie Henneghen, and Fred Dennard and one sister, Evelyn Hopkins.

Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home, P.A. in Federalsburg with the Bishop J.J. Green officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery near Hurlock. Friends may visit the Funeral Home from 9:00 to 11:00 on Saturday.

Ruth C. Harding of Cambridge, formally of Cokesbury, Maryland passed away at home on Wednesday, October 10, 2012. She was 88.

She was born on March 12, 1924 in Chester, PA, the daughter of the late Kenneth Lee Cordrey and Anna Cordrey.

She was married to the late Sewell J. Harding, Jr. on February 27, 1943. He preceded her on death on October 13, 2001.

Working alongside of her husband on the family farm, Ruth spent much of her time tending to the garden, bookkeeping and raising her family. She later worked at Hurlock Sportswear in Hurlock for many years.

She is survived by three daughters, Constance Swafford and her husband, Daniel, Sr. of Cambridge, Bonnie Ostermann and her husband Wayne of Federalsburg, Diann Mason of Tega Cay, SC, four grandchildren, Paige Adams and Daniel Swafford, Jr., both of Cambridge, Hank Ostermann of Denton, and Christopher Mason of TegaCay, SC, seven great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Ostermann, Austyn Ostermann, Avery Ostermann, Logan Adams, Taylor Swafford, Erica Mason and Jordan Mason, a brother, Edward Cordrey and his wife Shirley of Delmar, a sister, Jeanette Wheatley and her husband, Russell of Federalsburg, and a sister-in-law, Barbara Cordrey of Seaford. She was preceded in death by a brother, James H. Cordrey and a son-in-law, Larry J. Mason.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 14, 2012 at 2:00 at the Framptom Funeral Home, P.A. with the Reverend Denzil T. Cheek officiating. Interment will follow in Cokesbury Cemetery in Cokesbury, Maryland. The family will receive friends from 12-2 on Sunday.

Helen Bauer Wroten of Federalsburg, known fondly as “Pee Wee” passed away at her home on Monday, October 8, 2012. She was 90.

She was born on September 10, 1922 in Rock Hall, Maryland, the daughter of the late William and Edith Hartman Bauer. She was preceded in death by her husband Leon Wroten, Sr. on March 2, 2006.

Helen graduated from Denton High School in 1940. She had worked previously for Sunshine Laundry and as an inspector for the former Caroline Poultry Plant. She enjoyed going to American Corner Auction and the Lincoln Auctions each week with her family and enjoyed stopping for chicken at Bloomingdale’s for her weekly visit.

She is survived by four children, Julia “Judy” Keen and her husband Frank of Federalsburg, Leon “Sonny”Wroten, Jr. and his wife, Leigh of Williamsburg, Joyce Wroten Beebe and her companion Deece “Dee” Wright of Denton, Barbara Jean Wroten of Federalsburg, eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, a brother, Jacob Bauer of Sudlersville, and a sister, Louise Meyer of Michigan. She also was preceded in death by a sister, Emma Councill.

Funeral services for her will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Framptom Funeral Home, in Federalsburg with Rev. Denzil Cheek officiating. Bertha Jeanette Russell of Hurlock, passed away at her home on Saturday, October 13, 2012. She was 76.
She was born in Atlanta, Delaware on May 3, 1936 daughter of the late Ellis Ford Bulah and Thelma Elizabeth Cannon. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Forrest Russell, Jr. on February 6, 2011.
Jeanette was a member of Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church in Preston where she had served on the usher board and was part of the Women’s Society. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. She owned and operated Russell’s Beauty Shop for over thirty years. She was past president, secretary, and treasurer for the Eastern Shore Beauticians Association.
Jeanette is survived by a daughter, Debra Briggs and her husband, William of Newark, DE, a step-daughter, Linda Garrus of Dover, DE, three grandchildren, Jenee’ Briggs Sampson and her husband Eric of Glenolden, PA, LaShea Briggs of Newark, DE, Wayne Garrus, Jr. and his wife, Lynette
of Baltimore, two great-grandchildren, Victoria Garrus and Wayne Garrus, III, a brother, Ford S. Beulah (correct spelling) and his wife, Diann of Willingboro, NJ, two specials nieces, Jacqueline Beulah and Vanessa Jones. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Gertrude Jones and Dorothy Beulah.
Funeral services for her will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 11 am. at Mt. Calvary U.M.C. in Preston with Rev. Beverly Lewis officiating. Theresa Joan Vincent Bradley died at her home near Laurel, DE on Sunday, October 14, 2012. She was 51. She was born on July 21, 1961 in Milford, De the daughter of Herman T. Vincent of Preston, MD and the late Joyce Elaine Mitchell Vincent. A sister, Donna Fisher also preceded her in death in 2008. She was a graduate in 1979 of Colonel Richardson High School. She attended Christ Evangelistic Church near Laurel. In addition to her father she is survived by two children Sean Harmon and Jake Bradley, both of Laurel, a sister, Barbara “Bobby” Harding and her husband, Howard Lee of Rhodesdale, two brothers, Terry Vincent and his wife Patty of Salisbury and Bruce Vincent and his wife Diana of Preston, several nieces and nephews, and her dog, Buddy. Funeral services for her will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Framptom Funeral Home, P. A. in Federalsburg with Rev. Roland Tice officiating. Mary Roknick Medich passed away at Caroline Nursing Home in Denton on Monday, October 15, 2012. She was 87. She was born in Freedom, PA, the daughter of the late Peter Roknick and Ljubica Skrbina Roknick. She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Medich whom she married on May 9, 1948 and passed away on September 14, 2002. Mary attended Freedom High School, class of 1943. She stayed home to raise her two children. She enjoyed helping Steve with his garden, preserving the amounts of vegetables it produced, and welcomed everyone in their home. Family was most important in her life, along with her devotion to her religion. She is survived by a daughter, Nadine M. Hilghman (Duane) of Easton, MD, two grandchildren, Kimberly Marzullo (Dave) of New Freedom, PA, and Ryan Jones of San Diego, CA, one greatgrand daughter, Piper Daniella Marzullo, a brother, Bob Roknick of Florida and one sister, Carol Roknick of PA. She was preceded in death by her son, Sam Medich and a brother, Sam Roknick. Joseph Kirby Bradley

Joseph Bradley, Grandpa Joe, died at his home in the company of his family, at the age of 78. He was born in Easton, Maryland. A majority of his childhood was spent on the Eastern Shore in the Town of Preston, and Salisbury, Maryland. He graduated from Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring. He served 4 years in the Air Force leaving with the rank of Airman 1st Class. He retired in 1988 after a 27 year career with AT&T in Washington, D.C. area. During his life, he enjoyed playing Country &Western Music on his guitar; building and flying, model airplanes, and collecting model trains. Grandpa Joe spent much of life repairing and restoring classic cars and was an active member of the National Thunderbird Club International and the local Potomac Thunderbird Club. In retirement, he motored around in his RV catching fish in the Florida Keys and on the bay by Fenwick Island, Delaware. He particularly enjoyed sharing the joys of the Boardwalk of Ocean City with his family; grandsons and great grandchildren. Meals always included cheese burgers at the Atlantic Stand, Thrashers French fries, Dumpsers Ice Cream and quarters were generously doled out to his grandsons. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, his son, two grandchildren and two great grand children, his sister, a niece and nephew and their respective families. Graveside services will be held at the Bethesda United Methodist Church Cemetery, 115 Main Street, Preston, Maryland on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Karen Handy officiating. Katherine J. Evey “Kathy” Christopher of Federalsburg, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012 at Caroline Nursing Home in Denton, MD. She was 57.
Kathy was born Oct. 10, 1955 in Easton, MD, the daughter of the late Mary Mae Inscho Evey and William Marlin Evey of Preston, MD.
She was a graduate of Colonel Richardson High School and later attended Frostburg and Chesapeake College with concentration in early education. She was employed as a daycare teacher and nanny. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Federalsburg.
She is survived by her husband, Keith Christopher, her father, William Marlin Evey or Preston, two brothers Thomas Evey and his wife Cynthia and Scott Evey and his wife Marilyn, both of Preston, two sisters Janice Burt and her husband Gregory of Preston, and Susan Slowinski and her husband Michael of Colrain, MA, step-brother Donald Nash, Jr. and his wife Sarah of Fredonia, NY, two step-sisters Brenda DiMillo of West Seneca, NY and Ellen Bates and her husband, Jon of Portland, OR, two nieces and two nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother Marlin W. Evey and a sister-in-law, Lorna Evey.
The family would like to thank all of Kathy’s wonderful caregivers, including Caroline Nursing and Rehab staff and the staff and volunteers of both Caroline and Talbot Hospices. Special thanks also to the dedicated loving staff that cared for her during her home confinement.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ United Methodist Church Rev. Karen Bongard and Reverend David Heistand officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Robert L.”Bob” Price of Seaford, DE passed away on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, MD. He was 69.
Bob was born Jan. 21, 1943 in Easton, MD, the son of the late Lee H. and Evelyn E. Richards Price.
He was a graduate of Preston High School Class of 1962. He had owned and operated Bob’s Citgo in Preston from 1963 to 1968. He was an independent truck driver for many years before retiring.
He is survived by a daughter April Dawn Price of Seaford, DE, grandson Kaleb Price of Seaford, sister Nancy P. Massey and her husband Steve, of Mardela Springs, MD, two nephews Kevin Thawley of Seaford and Richard Thawley of Kalamazoo, MI, and two step-daughters, Jana Hubbard and Tina Aqil.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg, with Rev. Raymond Justice officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Inurnment in Junior Order Cemetery will be private.
