James Vance Wilson

James Vance Wilson of Federalsburg passed away at Envoy Care in Denton, MD on Wednesday, March 6, 2013. He was 79. He was born on June 23, 1933 in Old Fort, North Carolina the son of the late Grady Albert Wilson and Tressie May Gibson Wilson. Vance served his country during the Korean War in the United States Force and was an aviation fireman during his time of service. He received a Master Barbers License in Leonardtown, Maryland. He was a buyer of timber, and for many years owned and operated his own saw mills. He also built several houses through the years. After retirement he owned and operated his own dump truck. He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Alice Marie Wilson, a daughter, Donna Saathoff and her husband Robert of Easton, MD, a son, James Michael Wilson, two grandchildren, Lauren Brenner and her husband, Joseph of Middletown, PA and Ryan Saathoff of Easton, a brother, Charles A. Wilson of Federalsburg, four sisters, Lois Jasinski, Shirley Hubbard both of Cambridge, MD, Bessie Moore of Trappe, MD, Sylvia Price who graciously assisted in his caregiving of Cambridge, MD, and several nieces and nephews. A sister, Frances Henry preceded him in death. Funeral services for him will be held on Friday, March 8, 2013 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Denzil Cheek officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock. Friends and family may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
