Sandra Lee “Sandy” Phillips passed away on Friday, January 8, 2016 at her home in Federalsburg. She was 72. She was born on May 13, 1943 in Easton, Maryland the daughter of the late Lee Albert Smith and Blanche Towers Smith. She was educated in the Caroline County Public School system, and was a member of the first graduating class of 1962 from Colonel Richardson High School. She was married to John W. Phillips on December 20, 1962. Sandy was a homemaker who loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed baking, assisting with the Federalsburg Historical Society, and a member of Union United Methodist Church in Federalsburg. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, John W. Phillips of Federalsburg, three sons, John Phillips, Jr. and his wife Mikie; Danny Phillips and his wife Kim; and Scott Phillips and his wife Emily all of Federalsburg; seven grandchildren, Jordan Phillips, Jamie Phillips, Josh Phillips, Caitlin Richard, Emily Phillips, Todd Phillips, and Annie Phillips; and one brother, George Smith and his wife Patsy of Federalsburg; several nieces and nephews and two special friends, Amanda Morris and Chris Pierce. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at 12:00 at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg with the Reverend Dan Gedman officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 12:00. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Cemetery in Federalsburg.
