Vickie Linn Hicks, aged 60, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family at Compass Regional Hospice in Centreville on March 26, 2016. Vickie shared her joy and laughter between Madisonville, KY and the Eastern Shore of Maryland. She was born on October 5, 1955, daughter of the late Perry Melvin Kerns and Joyce Chance Kerns. Vickie thoroughly enjoyed spending her time with her 3 daughters, family, and friends. She loved Sunday dinner with family, and to her nothing was better than spending time with those she loved. She was a very dedicated worker in the retail business, a job she truly enjoyed. Her past employers being Kmart, Fashion Bug, Dollar General and most recently Walmart. She was a graduate of Colonel Richardson High School Class of 1973. Those that knew Vickie would tell you she had an infectious smile that could brighten any room and a laugh that would just make you want to laugh with her. She is survived by her 3 daughters, Denise Parks and her husband Brice of Preston, MD, Penny Brooks and her husband Tony formerly of Cambridge, MD, and Jacqulyn McGregor and her husband Mark “Bo” of Graham, KY. She is also survived by her stepson Michael Hicks of Federalsburg and 9 grand-children, Courtney, Christopher, Chad, James, Craig, Tejay, Collin, Kyle and Haleigh. Five siblings, Wanda Johnson and her husband Donnie of Greenwood, DE, Janet Willis and her husband Ron of South Carolina, James Kerns of Kentucky, Sheri Kerns of Arkansas, Michael Kerns of Federalsburg, MD, and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life officiated by Pastor Bill, will be held on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Bethlehem Wesleyan Church, 5530 Bethlehem Road, Preston, MD.
