James Victor “Billy” Dolby passed away on Friday, September 12, 2014 in Cambridge, Maryland. He was 81. He was born on September 1, 1933 in East New Market, Dorchester County, Maryland the son of the late James Nelson Proctor Dolby and Jeanette Catherine Bell Reed Dolby. Billy graduated from Hurlock High School. He later worked on the farm with his father and the Acme Cannery in Hurlock. He drove a school bus for about 25 years and later worked at Allen Family Foods as a dispatcher He enjoyed fox hunting, horse racing, playing poker, pool and smoking his pipe. He is survived by three children, Sherry Dolby of Hurlock, Gary Dolby and his wife Janet of Preston, and Vicki Donovan and her husband Michael of Seaford, two step sons; David Smith and his wife Michelle of Williamsburg, and Stephen Smith and his wife Tracie of Easton; five grandchildren, Stacie Pietras of Mardela, Jill R. Johnson of Cambridge, Jamie Catherine Hagadorn of Hurlock, M. Ryan Donovan of Seaford, and W. Boyd Stuart of Hoopers Island, MD; eight great-grandchildren, Victoria-Lyn Stuart, Brandt Swann, Haley Pietras, Derek Pietras, Randall P Johnson, Jr, Gavin Pietras, Brylee Hagadorn and Aubrey Stuart. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at 11:00 am at Hill Crest Cemetery in Federalsburg with the Reverend Denzil T. Cheek officiating.
