Carl A. “Zeke” Watson of Seaford, DE passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at his home near Seaford, DE. He was 80. He was born on May 5, 1933 in Georgetown, DE, the son of the late Atwood “Bitters” Watson and Alice J. Watson. He graduated from Federalsburg High School in 1951 and played minor league baseball with the Philadelphia A’s franchise. He entered the United States Army in 1953 and was honorably discharged in 1954. He continued playing baseball until 1956. He then returned home and started his career with Service Trucking as a dispatcher. He later retired from Glacier Trucking. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by one son, Randall Watson of Windsor Mill, MD, three daughters, Alison Cook and her husband Ralph of Seaford, DE, Carla Neugroschel and her husband Jeff of Cambridge, MD, and Sheila Adkins of Sharptown, MD, four grandchildren, Daniel Cook, Jason Cook, Erin Ruark and Cari Jesse; six great grandchildren, John Cook, Alyssa Ruark, Finn Cook, Graham Jesse, Abbey Ruark and Dillon Cook; one sister, Carolyn Sturgis of Virginia Beach, VA; five nieces and nephews; David Sturgis, Ken Sturgis, Linda Sturgis, Ashby Sturgis and Britt Sturgis. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at the Federalsburg VFW Post #5246 on Veterans Drive at 1:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Disabled Veterans of America at www.dav.org or to your favorite charity.
