Mary H. Brewington

Mary H. Brewington of Federalsburg MD, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2013 at Memorial Hospital in Easton, MD. She was 83 years old.
The daughter of the late Stewart I. Henson and Edna Proctor Henson, Mary was born on March 31, 1929 in Washington, D.C. She graduated from Bowie State Teachers College, Bowie, MD with a B.S. in Elementary Education in 1950. Mary subsequently attended University of Maryland, College Park, MD and received her Masters Degree in Education (M.Ed). She was an award winning educator who served in Caroline County as a teacher at Federalsburg Elementary School and a principal at Ridgely Elementary School. She also taught at Kentland Elementary School, and Columbia Park Elementary School in Prince Georges County before retiring in 1985.
Mary was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Federalsburg where she served on the Usher Board and was a member of the Methodist Women. She was also a loyal member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Blake Blackston Post 77, in Easton, MD. She enjoyed reading, traveling, doting on her grandsons, and was a whiz at doing crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-one years, D. Prattis Brewington; two daughters, Darlene Patricia Richeson (Bruce Johns) of Woodbine, MD, Edna Prattisann Brewington-Smith (Marcus A. Smith, Sr.) of Upper Marlboro, MD; three grandsons, Lt. Glenn D. Richeson (Erin Mitchell Richeson) of Groton, CT, Torrence L. Richeson of Silver Spring, MD, Marcus A. Smith, Jr. of Upper Marlboro, MD; and a step-daughter, Mary Ellen Patterson of Dover, DE.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg, MD, preceded by a viewing from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Federal Hill Cemetery .
